Final Portotype Memo

Location: the square in the front of Biology science library
Time:1/June/2015 Monday night
Procedure:

  • Setting physical facilities;
  • Prepared recording system:
  • Group member hide and secretly observe any potential participators;
  • No hints, talking with participators only permitted by enquiry;
  • Any potential action keep recording. 
Preliminary Users:
  • University staff and students; 
Features:

  • High curious about something new;
  • High motion to engage new installation;
  • Highly understand the goal of project, ie, if they were students, feel sympathy with our assessment.

Unsatisfied conditions:

  • Server weather: low temperature, strong wind
  • Open environment: people can see everything and no need to enter into the place;
  • Running time at evening, students may back to home.

- Talk of alternative sites. Potential for the exterior of the biology sciences library.

Explanation
We set social/individual as horizontal axis and interactive/ passive as vertical axis.

We choose social/individual to show normal concept user group, and  interactive/ passive to relevant user active motivation.

Each concept will be evaluated, the position on the concept map shows comparative with three existed concept which are best bus stop, Euro T-shirt, and 3D illusion.

Meeting Started 1:45pm - All members present


Discussion of Team Concepts:


Asters Concept Lighting Seat

  • Taking a supporting stance on thesis 1. Chair is there to add joy into joyless site. 
  • Need to be more specific on location within site. 
  • Making into more of an interactive game, add a steering wheel and camera linked to ferry.
Aster Concept In Floor
  • Taking a supporting stance on thesis 1. Ferry station is boring put this installation in to add joy
  • Make it a forced multiplayer game, so need to be social. Being social brings joy. People will reflect on experience with others.
Asters  Concept U-Shaped Seat
  • Take stance on thesis, clean up description (i,e like speed dating)
Ruixue Concept SOS Footprints
  • Change to Thesis 3, take a supporting stance. 
Ruixue Concept Talking Box
  • NICHOLAS to  - Combine with Nicholas' concept
  • Taking a stance supporting thesis 1. Chair installed to help bring back joy.
Ruixue Sound Recorder
  • Random playback for privacy.
  • Supporting Thesis, because people are talking to a machine rather than a person.
  • Add some sort of note taking system to get user feedback on why they used the installation.

  • Add stance supporting. 


Nicholas Weird Door Concept.

  • Change to thesis 3, supporting the idea that there are not enough invitations. Provides an open invitation through the doorway.
Nicholas Weight Overturn Chair:
  • Change description, make sure you include that the see-saw is reversed in its function.
  • Change thesis: Challenge, our modern built environment CAN bring joy.
Lyndon Concept Private Public Cinema
  • Change name
Lyndon Concept Always sometimes Never
  • Make note for time of day when installation would occur.
  • Implement a better reward for the Never path.
Lyndon Concept Anti-Social Alarm
  • Add in a bell ringing or alarm, when people put pressure on the front of the unit.

Post concept maps to google drive for document compilation.
- Each concept map needs an explanatory paragraph. Concept maps to include existing installations taken from the Google+ page.

Address document to Client, and address their needs. Link back installation and the audience to the Client.
