Meeting Started 1:45pm - All members present

Discussion of Team Concepts:

Asters Concept Lighting Seat

• Taking a supporting stance on thesis 1. Chair is there to add joy into joyless site. 
• Need to be more specific on location within site. 
• Making into more of an interactive game, add a steering wheel and camera linked to ferry.

Aster Concept In Floor

• Taking a supporting stance on thesis 1. Ferry station is boring put this installation in to add joy
• Make it a forced multiplayer game, so need to be social. Being social brings joy. People will reflect on experience with others.

Asters  Concept U-Shaped Seat

• Take stance on thesis, clean up description (i,e like speed dating)

Ruixue Concept SOS Footprints

• Change to Thesis 3, take a supporting stance. 

Ruixue Concept Talking Box

• NICHOLAS to  - Combine with Nicholas' concept
• Taking a stance supporting thesis 1. Chair installed to help bring back joy.

Ruixue Sound Recorder

• Random playback for privacy.
• Supporting Thesis, because people are talking to a machine rather than a person.
• Add some sort of note taking system to get user feedback on why they used the installation. 

Ruixue Inside Watch Point Concept.

• Add stance supporting. 

Nicholas Weird Door Concept.

• Change to thesis 3, supporting the idea that there are not enough invitations. Provides an open invitation through the doorway.

Nicholas Weight Overturn Chair:

• Change description, make sure you include that the see-saw is reversed in its function.
• Change thesis: Challenge, our modern built environment CAN bring joy.

Lyndon Concept Private Public Cinema

• Change name

Lyndon Concept Always sometimes Never

• Make note for time of day when installation would occur.
• Implement a better reward for the Never path.

Lyndon Concept Anti-Social Alarm

• Add in a bell ringing or alarm, when people put pressure on the front of the unit.

Everyone format concepts correctly by end of today.
Post concept maps to google drive for document compilation.
- Each concept map needs an explanatory paragraph. Concept maps to include existing installations taken from the Google+ page.
Lyndon Post up final document on Google Drive


Address document to Client, and address their needs. Link back installation and the audience to the Client.

Interium report. This is where we are up to, we did this this this this.
     - Introduce site evals, justify their importance to the final concept and design.

Discuss Site Evaluations

Queens Park

·        Interesting Findings

o   Queens Park, Very busy on the weekend.

o   Very easy for people to communicate

o   Open and sunny

·        Potential Problems

o   Traffic issues on weekends.

King George Square

·        Potential Problems

o   Issues with department of transport and main roads.

Ferry Station

·        Interesting Findings

o   Good because user group are kept separate

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES FOR CONCEPT CARDS.

(identify the thesis it is a response to and your particular stance or interpretation of that thesis in this installation concept, identify an appropriate public site and time of day for the installation, describe the target audience (should relate to people who frequent that site), a description of what the installation is and how it is supposed to work to engage people, make them think, how they can interact with it or you, etc., and a user scenario of what is supposed to and likely to happen when a member of the public encounters it.)

Make sure concept cards are in the following format.

- Everyone to Generate a  Concept maps.

- Everyone Print concept cards.

- Everyone put critique on everyone else's concept cards. Write your critique in at the end in the following colours

               Lyndon - Red

               Ruixue - Green

               Aster - Blue

               Nicholas -  Purple

-  Lyndon, Apply consistent formatting to concept cards + Update sketches. Please ensure all concept cards are finalized by Wednesday.

-  Lyndon Set up design document for submission of Phase 1 deliverables.

Studio Meeting Notes 07/05/15

Notes from Team meeting on Thursday 5th of May after studio session.

Came up with a new team name. Byte Design. 
- Crystal to update the team name on the blog.

Site Locations chosen.
- Site 1: Queens Park Brisbane City (Crystal to complete site Survey)
- Site 2: QUT Gardens Point Ferry Terminal (Aster to complete site Survey)
- Site 3: Southbank SOMEWHERE (Nicholas to complete site Survey, need to pick a specific location within Southbank)
- Site 4: King George Square Bus Station (Lyndon to complete site Survey)

Site Surveys to be completed before next team meeting on Monday 11th 

Also to be completed before next team meeting.
3x Concept cards per team member.

Monday meeting to discuss and refine concepts and site evaluations.
